Professional statement

Dr. Sari Chait is a Clinical Psychologist based in MA who provides online therapy throughout MA, NY, CT, and FL. She specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with additional expertise in health psychology.  She works with people coping with anxiety, insomnia, fertility and postpartum struggles, adjustment to chronic illness and cancer, depression, and stress management.  Dr. Chait especially enjoys working with women trying to juggle life's many demands and coping with the associated stress and worry, whether it’s in the context of other stressors (e.g., pregnancy or chronic illness) or just as part everyday life.

Dr. Chait primarily utilizes CBT and ACT. She works with her clients to build a figurative toolbox of skills to help them manage their mood and stress or make healthy lifestyle changes.  Dr. Chait helps her clients develop healthy coping skills, adjust the way they think about things, and better manage their overall stress.  She has additional expertise in CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I), a treatment that has been shown to be highly effective for treating insomnia and sleep difficulties.

Dr. Chait is warm and compassionate and strives to create a therapy space where clients feel safe and comfortable.  She aims to teach clients skills that they can apply in their everyday lives to manage whatever hurdles they encounter.  Before working in private practice, Dr. Chait worked in several medical settings including two VA hospitals and primary care clinics.  She received her PhD from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. As part of her training, she completed a clinical internship and fellowship at the VA in Connecticut.

Message to clients

Life can be exhausting, whether it's dealing with stress, anxiety, chronic illness, insomnia, or all of the above. Talking to someone each week and learning skills that you can use in your every day life can make a huge difference in allowing you to enjoy your life more. Therapy can help you be a more present friend, partner, parent, and employee.

As part of the intake process, you and I will set goals of therapy together so we can periodically check in to make sure we are making progress. After the intake, I generally start each session by asking what’s on your mind for that day’s session. Therapy is a time for you to discuss your concerns with someone who can take a non-judgmental stance while helping you find ways to cope with your stressors. I like to think of therapy as a collaboration where we can work together to figure out what you want to accomplish and try different strategies to see what does and does not work for you in your life.
