Shannon is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Expressive Arts Therapist with over a decade of experience helping children, adolescents and adults heal and manage anxiety, depression, trauma and life changes. She has deep understanding of how to transform suffering into strength by using skilled inquiry in talk therapy as well as the creative process. Clients can better understand themselves and their potential by using various forms of self-expression in addition to talk therapy that may include art making or body oriented therapies that are designed address complex and difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences. You will also have the opportunity to learn mindfulness and Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills to apply to daily life.
Sessions begin with a check-in as you may have had homework from the previous session or a theme you and Shannon are focussing on. Then you will move into processing. through whatever comes up with talk or expressive arts therapy. Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Mindfulness skill building is also available to you to help manage daily struggles. Sessions are meant to be playful and to be build on your own strengths and creativity.
Shannon also holds memberships to professional organizations such as the American Art Therapy Association and New England Center for Existential Therapy. She is dedicated to building her skills and enriching her practice to provide the best treatment possible to her clients.
