Professional statement

Shivon Ramadhin is an attachment focused psychotherapist located near Grand Central/ Bryant Park, Manhattan. She offers sessions both in person and online.

With a passionate commitment to fostering the well-being within diverse communities, she brings a wealth of expertise in supporting individuals of color who have endured complex trauma, highlighting Caribbean and South Asian populations. Her professional focus centers on providing therapy to individuals from marginalized communities, including interracial and first-generation couples, as well as young parents and siblings from immigrant backgrounds.

Shivon's approach is rooted in cultural sensitivity and trauma-informed practices, ensuring that clients feel understood and empowered on their healing journey. With a warm and direct approach, she creates a safe and affirming space where clients can explore their identities, heal from past trauma, and cultivate fulfilling relationships. Whether facing intergenerational trauma, acculturation challenges, or relationship conflicts, Shivon provides personalized support tailored to each individual's unique needs and strengths.

Shivon leverages a diverse set of evidence-based and somatic modalities to tailor her approach, drawing from attachment and psychodynamic principles as well as ongoing training in Somatic Experiencing® (SEI). Central to her mission is the integration of somatic and attachment approaches, particularly within communities where traditional talk therapy has not been wholly effective in addressing systemic trauma.

With a focus on holistic healing, Shivon seamlessly integrates body awareness and neurophysiology into her practice, recognizing the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit in the healing process. By incorporating somatic techniques alongside traditional therapeutic methods, she offers clients a comprehensive approach to healing that honors their unique experiences and fosters profound transformation.

Message to clients

Growing up in an immigrant family, I was taught that showing emotions was a weakness. Yet, as I've navigated my own path and pursued education, I've realized that my parents, like many immigrants, were denied the space to explore their emotions due to the demands of survival. I'm dedicated to supporting others in untangling the knots of generational trauma, guiding them towards healing and the restoration of their wholeness. Together, we will navigate the path towards healing and self-discovery. This therapeutic space is yours, where your experiences, emotions, and challenges are met with empathy and without judgment.

As we embark on this therapeutic journey together, I want you to know that my commitment to your well-being is unwavering. I provide individual therapy that is warm, collaborative, and tailored to meet the unique needs of each person I see. Your trust in sharing your stories brings me great joy, knowing that I can be the bridge for you to dive deeper into self-growth and connection to others.
