Shoshana is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the states of New York and Florida, and PsyPact states. She earned her Doctorate in clinical psychology at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, PsyD program. As a therapist, she draws on contemporary psychodynamic theory and relational techniques, while pulling from CBT, DBT and mindfulness approaches when useful. Her approach is not one-size-fits-all, and as a therapist she works with you to reduce immediate distress while creating space for long-term change.
In her private practice, Shoshana sees individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship dynamics, life transitions, trauma, work-life balance, emotion regulation, post-partum changes and fertility, disordered eating, chronic health issues, among other mental health concerns. She considers the relationship between the client and therapist as one of the most important aspects of treatment and works to facilitate an open and non-judgmental environment to check in about your experience.
She view’s therapy as a collaborative process where together you work to understand you as a whole person. Her training has been with adults of all ages, and from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. She has practiced in college counseling settings, helping students with their transition to adulthood and navigating family life. She has also worked with many first- and second-generation immigrants, and people from different spiritual and religious backgrounds to better understand their personal and cultural identities and how they may be creating unwanted conflict.
She has worked at a range of institutions including New York Presbyterian Inpatient & Partial Hospitalization Program Eating Disorder Division, and the National Institute for the Psychotherapies. She has unique research experience in depression, personality pathology, and emotion regulation in older adulthood. She completed both her pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral training at the Karen Horney Clinic.
