Welcome! My name is Shydu Kato and I have over 10 years of experience providing therapy to Latinx individuals and families. My approach is holistic, strengths-based, interactive and trauma-informed. I specialize in working with emerging adults transitioning to and out of college and helping parents navigate coparenting challenges.

I attended New York University where I completed my Master's degree in Social Work. My experiences include settings working with school systems, outpatient clinics, shelters, and nonprofit organizations.

Please note that I only provide therapy through telehealth - Zoom calls.

Message to clients

Namaste! I have a thriving interest in helping people reach their mental health goals. My work with patients starts with developing a safe and supportive partnership where you will feel comfortable to open up about your challenges and difficulties. Although most of my focus has been working with children and adolescents in an educational setting, I do have experience with adults struggling with anxiety and depression.

I believe in the strengths-based perspective and applying it to help you identify your strengths and building from there. Based on symptoms and diagnosis, we will discuss which type of psychotherapy will best suit you. There is a lot of power in having a safe space to be able to vent about your emotions, thoughts, and actions. My intention is to help you feel comfortable discussing the symptoms that may be impeding you from having the life you truly desire and identifying the steps to get you closer to achieving your goals.
