Sky Koltun is a therapist in New York whose approach to therapy is first and foremost holistic; merging the best of traditional and evidence-based clinical psychotherapy with philosophy and neuroscience. This includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in which clients focus on the present, as well as dynamic approaches that entail exploring elements of a client's past that has contributed to who they are today.
Sky's practice is eclectic and often includes such methods as “Tapping” or EFT; Internal Family Systems; The Sedona Method; Narrative Therapy; and Behavioral approaches.
Sky's clients are individuals and couples that seek practical tools for living that will increase their capacity to use healthy and adaptive coping skills to address major life challenges, increase insight, and improve communication.
Sky received her master’s degree from Hunter College’s Silberman School of Social Work with a focus on Mental Health and Human Sexuality. She specializes in working with couples, adults, and adolescents experiencing depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, addiction/recovery & 12 Step programs, issues related to sexuality, relationship issues, family conflict, life transitions, career confusion, and loss.
Anxiety - Coping with excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder)
Depression - Providing support and promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, irritability, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life
Trauma - Coping and healing after threatening or scary events, such as witnessing accidents or experiencing sexual, verbal, emotional, or physical abuse
Mindfulness and meditation - Developing mindfulness and meditation practices to encourage a state of active, open attention on the present
Couples counseling - Addressing relationship challenges and life transitions; strengthening communication and feelings of security, desire, connection, and love
