Professional statement

Dr. Kapoor is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Dr. Kapoor specializes in working with individuals, couples, and families who have experienced trauma. This trauma generally shows up as anxiety, addiction, shame, guilt, low self-esteem, or interpersonal conflicts. Dr. Kapoor works with her clients to move past their trauma and develop hope. In her practice, she’s dedicated to being culturally informed and tailoring therapy to each individual’s needs.

Dr. Kapoor received training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, an evidence-based modality that helps clients’ brains get “unstuck” from trauma in their past. She also utilizes Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Exposure Response Prevention Therapy (ERP) in sessions with clients to support a growing awareness of how thoughts inform mood and behaviors. Clients develop their goals for therapy and Dr. Kapoor teaches the skills necessary to reach those goals.

Dr. Kapoor earned her Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Loma Linda University. She brings compassion and care to each session with many certifications and lengthy experience in the mental health setting. She aims to empower clients to make healthy decisions for themselves and learn more about themselves.

Message to clients

Our Mental Health Is Just As Important As our Physical Health. Don’t give up! You matter, and your mental health matters!

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Be kind to yourself and your mind. Nothing in this world can bother us as much as our own minds. Sometimes life’s challenges become overwhelming and upset us and the people around us. When these challenges become overwhelming, you don’t have to manage them alone. In therapy, I provide a non-judgmental, holistic environment and make you feel heard. I use reflective listening, paraphrasing if needed to make sure I understood your concerns and provide you with evidence-based tools and techniques to work with the challenges you are dealing with. I provide genuine support and sometimes it can be direct to challenge your thought process. I will empower you and walk with you as you work towards your goal, feel confident and emotionally strong as well as synchronized.

I work with adults dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and relationship challenges. I use evidence-based approaches such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), ERP, CBT, TI-CBT, Mindfulness, and integrated model. My goal is to provide you a safe place where you can be you and feel empowered.
