Sonya Veytsman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at A Good Place Therapy at the intersection of the Financial District and Tribeca in New York City. She specializes in providing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness to those navigating relationships and/or anxiety. In her practice, she sees both individuals and couples.

Sonya is passionate about a wide range of topics, including dating and being single; exploring spirituality, life’s purpose and belief systems; discussing sexuality and gender identity; and communication and compassion between couples.

Her eclectic and flexible therapeutic approach incorporates elements of CBT in addition to skills-based work, family systems exploration, and mindfulness practices. She also has experience providing Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapy to clients with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). She works with her clients to develop an individualized treatment plan that takes into account their needs and goals.

It is my firm belief that we free ourselves to think and act in new ways when we are willing to embrace the exploration of the self and develop insights into the motivations behind our behavior. We will work together to build a shared understanding of the obstacles that you are facing, whether that means improving your interpersonal relationships, exploring your identity/sexuality/spirituality, strengthening your self esteem, navigating overwhelming and traumatic experiences, or identifying maladaptive patterns that may be acting as barriers to the life you want.
I draw from a combination of evidence-based treatment approaches including CBT, interpersonal, psychodynamic, Gottman, strengths-based, solution-focused, and mindfulness based stress reduction. In my practice, a combination of training, clinical judgement, and intuition is used to assist you in developing strategies tailored to meeting concrete, measurable goals. My approach is unconditionally supportive, patient, understanding, empathetic, and warm.
We will work collaboratively to identify solutions and tools for addressing problems to allow for an overall increase in life-satisfaction and symptom reduction. My hope is that the therapeutic process allows you to discover purpose and meaning, and to develop insight on how to harness your unique strengths to actualize your highest potential. I truly care and am invested in each individual's journey towards healing & growth and am honored to be a witness to this remarkable process.
