Stephanie Kane is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (licensed in RI and MA) and is a 2008 graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a BS in Communication Disorders and a 2016 graduate of Rhode Island College with a Masters Degree in Social Work. Following her undergraduate education, she worked as Speech Pathology Assistant in the early education sector before transitioning to work with About Families CEDARR Center. Here, she provided in-home services and advocacy within the school system for families with children diagnosed with intellectual disabilities, developmental delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other disabilities.
Stephanie has extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, most recently working at Brigham and Women’s Hospital on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Boston. In this role, Stephanie offered support to new parents in coping with the early arrival of their infant, processing traumatic birth experiences and separation from their infant, and navigating the adjustment to the NICU. Prior to this, she worked at Kent Hospital, supporting the complex needs of clients throughout the hospital Stephanie has worked with individuals across the lifespan, supporting her clients with anxiety, depression, stress management, life transitions, medical illness, grief and loss, and postpartum care.
