Professional statement

Stephanie Brissette is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist based in Los Angeles. She works with individuals (teens + adults) and couples. Many of Stephanie’s clients come in to address anxiety, pre/postpartum mental health, relationships, and stress & burnout. Stephanie is particularly passionate about serving young adults, couples, and new moms & families. She has pursued post-graduate training in the areas of emotionally focused therapy (EFT), perinatal mental health, and mindfulness.

Stephanie uses a holistic approach of evidence-based strategies including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), emotionally focused therapy (EFT), and mindfulness. Stephanie meets each client as an individual and uses the approach best suited to their needs and goals. She helps clients to pause, take a step back, and gain a clearer understanding of where their current narratives, routines, and ways of relating to others are no longer serving them. This approach supports clients to feel more grounded, secure, and capable of making changes in their lives to move meaningfully towards their goals.

Stephanie's style is warm, engaging, and direct. When clients first start therapy, she begins by getting to know each client as a couple or individual rather than as a list of symptoms or diagnoses. She then works with compassion and curiosity to understand where clients are feeling stuck, and how best to help them move forward.

Stephanie received her MA from Antioch University Los Angeles and her BS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She continues to pursue additional trainings and specialities in order to best serve her clients with the most up-to-date and effective approaches. Outside of work, she loves to travel, be in nature, read, play tennis, and spend time with family and friends

Message to clients

Finding the right therapist can be a daunting task - I know, I've been there. When you're looking for support, finding someone who you connect with and feel comfortable with is one of the most important factors; because of this, I begin every new therapy relationship from a place of humility, curiosity, and compassion while I get to know you and your specific needs. I will always work with you to understand your specific concerns, needs, and goals, and I will work with you to identify the best path forward.

I'm passionate about mental health during pregnancy & postpartum, women's health, stress & burnout, coping with high-stress careers, life transitions, disordered eating & self-esteem, couples, and working with teens and young adults. I know each situation is unique, so I utilize a holistic blend of evidenced-based therapies in order to best meet your needs.

As your therapist I will: listen with compassion + curiosity, guide you to reflect + gain deeper understanding of your emotions and experience, and empower you to explore making changes in life to help you move toward your goals. I look forward to meeting you.
