Professional statement

Stephanie Guerra is an LPC-A in the state of Texas supervised by Dr. Sunny Lansdale, PhD, LPC-S. Stephanie’s counseling style could be described as unpretentious, person-centered and relational. Stephanie believes that when you work with a talented counselor you feel genuine connection, you feel heard, and you feel respected and cared for. She emphasizes the counselor-client relationship in the work that she does, using this relationship as a means to help understand and heal other relationships in the client’s life.

In working with couples, Stephanie is passionate about working with clients who are experiencing stress in their marriage or experiencing divorce. She is comfortable working with many types of couples including non-traditional arrangements.

Stephanie also appreciates the opportunity to work with individual clients who are grieving and those who are stuck in existential despair or suffering from ambiguous loss. She enjoys working with people who are in big transitions in their life or are finding themselves in a bit of a crisis.

Some of the communities who Stephanie serves are artists, parents, single people, divorced individuals, single mothers, people of color, cancer survivors, people with Immuno-disorders, those struggling with pregnancy challenges or losses, the queer community, non-binary individuals, intersex people and those needing gender affirming care.

Stephanie Guerra studied both art and psychology in her undergrad work, focusing heavily on women's studies and issues pertaining to gender roles. At the undergraduate level she worked under Dr. Rebecca Bigler at the University of Texas at Austin, helping with research relating to gender. After college Stephanie worked in children’s homes and in other capacities with children. Later Stephanie went on the receive her masters degree in counseling, completing coursework that emphasized her care for the LGBTQ community.

I’m so glad you’re here, on your journey to finding yourself a therapist. Everyone deserves a safe space where they can feel held in compassion and related to genuinely. If you are feeling stuck or uncomfortable in your life, I would feel honored to have the chance to get to know you and help you sort through the feelings you are currently experiencing. I offer my clients gentle presence, honesty, and the hope to help get you through to a place where you feel more empowered.

I offer counseling sessions at a very reasonable price. My sliding scale ranges from 85 to 150 depending on the type of therapy and your income bracket. I see clients both in person and online.

I am also offering an ongoing relational group for individuals wanting to explore facets of relationship with others.
