Message to clients

My approach to therapy is helping clients to achieve their goals, as it pertains to their lives and to the therapeutic outcomes of our sessions. When it comes to counseling, I’m a lot like a tour guide that can help folks to explore and discover places they’d like to go in therapy. Teaching clients how to learn different ways to view situations, and events, can often times help them to find new ways of thinking in their search for meaning and understanding of some of life’s stressors.

Shortly after my retirement from the military, I received my Master’s degree in Counseling and Psychology. Additionally, I earned Masters’ degrees in Business Administration, and International Relations. My main approach to counseling is with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), as it is an evidenced based therapeutic approach to many of life’s challenges. I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i), as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I hold a certification as a Clinical Trauma Professional and am a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200).

My specialty in counseling is working with both individual adults and couples in therapy. I have a broad range of experience in helping adults and couples overcome anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, increase communication skills, and encourage a continuous improvement approach to life in my practice.
