Professional statement

Suhailey fully believes in every individual’s ability to heal from traumas and access untapped strength that can aid in overcoming adversities. Whether you need help adjusting to life changes, managing the symptoms of depression or anxiety, or are just interested in better understanding the roots of certain behaviors, you should know that hope and healing are within reach.

Suhailey takes an integrative approach to therapy, utilizing techniques from different theoretical orientations – especially psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy – to best suit your unique needs. As a therapist, Suhailey has experience working with diverse populations and in a variety of settings, such as hospitals, chemical dependency treatment centers, behavioral clinics, and universities. In addition to working in private practice, she teaches graduate level counseling courses at her alma mater, Hunter College, CUNY, feeling privileged and humbled to play a positive role in shaping future counselors. She is passionate about helping students overcome the stress that can plague college years and beyond, providing the right balance of challenge, support, and critical reflection.

As a first generation American and Latinx woman, Suhailey recognizes that differences can exist beneficially. Her job as a therapist is to understand your differences by taking a culturally sensitive approach to treatment, welcoming your beliefs, perspectives, and personal challenges. Suhailey considers it a privilege to join you on your journey to growth, learning and self-actualization.

Message to clients

Aside from being a therapist and a college educator, at my core, I am a human who genuinely desires internal peace for those I get the pleasure of crossing paths with. Peace for those who’ve battled with indecisiveness, depression, or anxiety- stuck in a cycle of overthinking. Peace for those who constantly engage in negative self-talk, who struggle with setting and adhering to boundaries, or the tendency to seek validation from others to feel worthy and secure, building up those around them at the cost of shrinking themselves.

I understand everyone heals at their own pace and that life is an ongoing growth process that can come with its share of roadblocks, barriers, and growing pains. I believe a strong therapeutic connection is key to successful treatment, which is why I approach sessions with acceptance, transparency, and authenticity, priding myself in being someone you can feel comfortable and open with. I encourage you to reach out for a free consultation, offering morning, afternoon, and evening appointments to accommodate those with busy schedules. I look forward to doing meaningful work together.
