Licensed Professional Counselor, LPCSultana Karim is a Licensed Professional Counselor located in Woodbridge, VA. Sultana has expertise in working with women who are pregnant, want to get pregnant, or already have children. She provides kind, empathetic support for mothers who experience postpartum depression or anxiety. Often, these clients feel immense pressure to perform their role of mother without flaw, only to become burnt out. She believes that every person she works with has innate strengths that can be harnessed for healing, growth, and discovery. Sultana teaches clients how to decrease negative thought patterns, including the harmful self-talk that leads to depressive or anxious moods. By offering Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), ), Play Therapy, Expressive Arts and Art Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Mindfulness, Perinatal Yoga (Prenatal, Postpartum, Fertility Yoga), Strength-Based Approach, Person- Centered Approach, clients learn how to replace negative thoughts with positive, helpful ones that affirm the self. She helps clients process their traumas and helps clients work towards their goals by breaking their goals down into smaller, achievable steps as they process through their emotions.
