Master of Education, MEd Licensed Associate Counselor, LACSusan Milligan is a Counselor located in Little Rock, AR. Susan specializes in helping clients who have experienced trauma in their past. This trauma could have been a one-time event like an accident or a chronic series of events like abuse. Her clients seek therapy to deal with the negative impacts of these events on their lives, which can include frequent panic attacks, debilitative emotions, inability to form healthy relationships with others, and heavy feelings of shame or guilt. Susan also sees clients who suffer from anxiety and depression.
Susan is pleased to offer Brainspotting (BSP), a revolutionary treatment for trauma, anxiety, and depression. BSP is designed to help access, process, and release negative experiences from the brain, including trauma, irrational emotions, and psychologically induced physical pain. By processing through the trauma in a validating, safe space, clients learn how to leave their debilitating symptoms behind. BSP can also be used for performance improvement in all aspects of life. Many people have used BSP to improve their relationships, professional careers, and even athletic abilities. Susan also teaches clients how to regulate their emotions, especially through mindfulness or grounding exercises. She takes an attachment-based approach to helping clients with their relationships, while also teaching them to avoid harmful cognitive distortions like assumptions, judgments, or black and white thinking.
Susan is a collaborative, caring therapist who wants her clients to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings while in therapy sessions. She recognizes that it takes courage for individuals to seek help, and strives to make therapy as simple to access as possible. Her goal is to help clients achieve lasting change so they can move forward after their trauma.
