Professional statement

Tanisha Robinson is a clinical social worker in Virginia and Washington DC. She got her masters degree from Rutgers University in 2015 in New Jersey and while there her focuses we’re working with children, teens and adults in mental health and medical/health topics. She has been in the field working in community based mental health and medical settings. Her areas of expertise are in trauma and crisis and treating anxiety, depression and PTSD. She is trained in and uses TF-CBT, uses somatic psychotherapy, holistic therapy, motivational interviewing and person-centered therapy techniques. Part of the holistic techniques used include aromatherapy, deep breathing, meditation and stretching/yoga poses in sessions. Traditional talk therapy is also utilized for the needs of those who want more of a traditional approach to their treatment needs.

She currently owns her own private practice and it has been open since 2019 in which she has done telehealth and face-to-face counseling services for children, teens, and adults. She works with families for counseling as well to support the family needs and structure. Her office is in Springfield and she sees people via telehealth and in person for services.

Message to clients

Nowadays there is a lot happening in the world and your world which can be hard to deal with sometimes. Having a therapist that you can talk to and focus on how to deal with stressors, big or small, can help you find a balance and get back to a positive and happy comfort level. I use holistic practices with clinical therapy to develop coping skills, educate you on symptoms and figure out the treatment plan that’s person-centered. When you have your initial session with me, we will go over the history of what you are experiencing and get other important information from your supports and current or historical treatment and what you like to do for fun as well as for overall balance in life. Once that information is obtained, we will set your treatment plan, treatment schedule and get you scheduled for our next session together. Everything is you-focused and we work together on each part. I look forward to working with you on your treatment needs.
