Dr. Chala is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with a private practice in Walnut Creek, where she welcomes individual clients who are seeking growth and change. Her clients are often high achieving women juggling various roles and looking to find more satisfaction in their relationships and daily life, as well as increase feelings of self-worth and value. Dr. Chala is particularly sensitive to clients experiencing life transitions such relationship challenges, job loss, navigating young adulthood and becoming a new parent, where symptoms of anxiety and depression can commonly emerge. Dr. Chala is also passionate about supporting clients through eating disorder recovery.
Therapy with Dr. Chala is collaborative and active. Through using a combination of approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy, Dr. Chala will provide support and practical feedback while gently highlighting the maladaptive patterns that are keeping you “stuck” in your present situation. Successful change often includes understanding the origins of our struggles, which entails evaluating past experiences and possibly grieving/healing in order to practice self-acceptance and growth.
Dr. Chala aims to approach each client with compassion, understanding and curiosity. Coming from a bicultural background, she is highly attuned to issues of diversity and challenges of acculturation. She strives to remain sensitive to how concerns of ethnicity, culture, religion, and sexism are involved in a client’s presenting concerns.
