As a first-generation immigrant and clinical social worker in private practice for over a decade, I’m deeply committed to supporting young professionals navigating emotional pain and inner conflict. When trauma and unresolved wounds go unaddressed, they often show up as problematic relationships, career dissatisfaction, self-blame, shame, low self-worth, substance use, and an overwhelming sense that life is something to simply endure.
I believe it’s essential to look not only at the individual, but also at the broader context we’re living in. The COVID-19 pandemic reshaped our collective sense of safety and stability—and since then, we’ve been met with crisis after crisis: climate anxiety, political polarization, global and personal threats of violence. Add to that the mental toll of technology—especially smartphones and social media—and it’s no surprise so many people feel anxious, burnt out, or disconnected from their values and sense of purpose.
Over the years, I’ve developed a therapeutic style that’s both grounded and active. I’m direct when needed, helping clients confront blind spots and pain points that have kept them stuck. At the same time, I bring deep empathy and presence to our work—creating space for vulnerability, healing, and self-discovery. My own journey of working through early life trauma informs my practice, allowing me to meet clients with compassion and a strong sense of the shared human experience.
Currently, I offer virtual sessions and am licensed to work with clients in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Colorado.
Years of Experience: 14 years
Depression - Following a significant loss, such as unemployment or a breakup, the ability to "bounce back" might not always feel possible. What's considered "normal" grieving can persist and escalate into depression, characterized by a collection of symptoms that impair daily functioning and overall quality of life.
Substance use - The key distinguishing factor between "normal" use of alcohol and cannabis and problematic use (or dependence) is whether the individual is habitually using these substances to seek relief from or to alter their ongoing low mood.
Trauma - Traumatic experience, characterized by intense fear and terror, can leave lasting effects without proper emotional validation and support to understand what happened. Childhood abuse, in particular, often leads to enduring consequences that negatively impact adult relationships and career. Similarly, traumatic events in adulthood can have long-lasting effect on mental health, causing persistent symptoms like anxiety, intrusive thoughts and alienation.
Burnout - High-achieving young professionals may not always recognize that their feelings of apathy, dissatisfaction, and hopelessness stem from an unsustainable connection to work and success, traits often praised by their parents and society.
Asian American Issues - Conflict between first generation immigrant parents and their adult children manifests in unspoken resentments, anger and the pressure to live up to parental expectation results in guilt and shame, and symptoms of anxiety and depression.
