Professional statement

Thomas F Hayes is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). He works individually through teletherapy with adults and seniors. Currently Mr. Hayes is only engaging with clients through teletherapy. In his practice Mr. Hayes encounters many clients with depression and anxiety issues. Many of Tom's clients are men who are unhappy and frustrated with their lives for a variety of issues, including career "burnout" and relationship issues.

Tom has extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and also incorporates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into his sessions with clients. Mr. Hayes has recently completed an ACT training course. In session, Tom likes to be interactive with his clients, listening intently to what they are communicating and together forming a treatment plan to use for the therapy process. This approach engages clients in the process as well as helping to keep them accountable to primarily themselves.

Mr. Hayes' style would best be described Humanistic, viewing the client as a "whole"; any dysregulation is considered impacting the "whole" which will be the focus of treatment. Mr. Hayes also follows a person-centered therapist approach, encouraging clients to engage in ongoing processing, possibly engaging in some restating to better understand the client as well as the client needs.

Thomas F Hayes received his Masters Degree in Professional Counseling from The IL. School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, IL. Mr. Hayes has worked and gained extensive experience in many different settings as a therapist for 20 years. Mr. Hayes went into private practice in 2019.

Message to clients

Have you arrived at a point in your life where some things (or all of them) are no longer acceptable or tolerable? Are you sad, frustrated, not focused, lack motivation? Are you in a constant state of fear and worry? What is the cost? Is your work and intimate relationship suffering? Have you as I like to say "hit the wall"?

Have you become totally willing to be honest with yourself and someone else who is non-judgemental, unbiased and willing to provide feedback from this perspective? If you have reached the point where you've "hit the wall", are willing to be honest but dont know what to do? I can help you.

We will meet, I will gather pertinent information from you, I will really listen to you with my undivided attention and together we will establish a plan in a healthy, honest comfortable environment, where you will be heard and respected.

We will use ACT as the basis for our work, accept things in life we cannot change, commit to a plan of change and take action (in other words as the NIKE commercial said JUST DO IT!

I will look forward to meeting you and help you on your new life journey!

Tom Hayes
