Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate, LPCCHe/Him/His
Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate, LPCCTimothy Spalla is a Mental Health Counselor serving Denver, Colorado.
Timothy works with clients of all ages and specializes in helping veterans and those with military histories. Timothy has firsthand experience in this area from his years spent in the US Army, serving multiple tours to Iraq and Africa. Many of Timothy’s clients seek comfort through unhealthy coping strategies like substance use or toxic relationships, leaving them feeling numb and isolated despite the need to process through trauma. They feel an immense pressure to remain held together, yet internally face overwhelming feelings of fear, guilt, and shame.
Timothy’s style is warm, creative & empowering. He sees symptoms, diseases, and discomfort as indicators pointing towards a deeper path to wellness. Timothy offers Client-Centered therapy, an approach based in unconditional positive regard and the shared goal of understanding a client’s unique experiences, goals, and solutions. Timothy incorporates mindfulness-based techniques to help clients increase their self-awareness, which shifts the attention inwards towards thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations, and can be useful once clients begin to process through their difficult emotions and experiences. Timothy works with clients to learn stress reduction & resiliency techniques in addition to providing psychedelic harm reduction & integration support. He coaches clients through goal setting and gently encourages them as they take steps towards creating healthy habits. He also offers Ecotherapy sessions which are often held outside in nature.
Tim earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health from Regis University. He is the Co-founder and Executive Director of a Denver-based 501c3 non-profit the Wounded Healer Project. Outside of work, Tim is often found enjoying adventures with his wife and two young boys, meditating, soaking up nature, writing and advocating for Veteran mental health.
