Professional statement

Tracey Gundel is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York, NY. Tracey has nearly 20 years of experience as a clinical social worker and psychotherapist in different mental health settings (such as the Clinical Director of a mental health clinic in New York City) She specializes in helping clients with their anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Tracey supports her clients as they navigate through difficult life transitions that impact not only lifestyle and routines but also mood, energy, and mental wellness. Her extensive background in the field allows her to be dexterous in meeting all the mental health needs of her clients.

Therapy with Tracey is supportive and collaborative. As well as psychodynamic and supportive psychotherapy, Tracey will draw from evidence-based practices including Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Cognitive behavioral therapy is a short-term, goal focused therapy centering on maladaptive and negative thought patterns contributing anxiety and depression.

Tracey earned her Master’s in Clinical Social Work from NYU in 2002. She then studied in Puerto Rico at the Pontificia Catholic University, learning both the language and culture to augment her social work practice. She trained in cognitive behavioral therapy with the Beck Institute and has a Postgraduate certificate from NYU. Other areas of study include Trauma Focused CBT, where she trained at St. Mary’s Hospital, and Emotional Freedom Techniques and Thought Field Therapy (EFT and TFT), in which she earned a certificate. Lastly, she draws on mindfulness practices to help ground her clients and help in symptom management.
