Professional statement

Tyler is a Master’s-Level clinician and Fellow at a Post-Graduate Gestalt Therapy Institute. He is a Psychotherapist dedicated to helping clients connect more deeply with themselves, and develop clarity in how they live their lives. Tyler is particularly passionate about working with LGBTQ+ clients and others seeking to better understand their full identities, boundaries within families, and romantic relationships. Tyler's warmth, empathy, and creativity offer a safe and supportive environment for clients. Drawing from psychodynamic and Gestalt theory to focus sessions on the generativity of the present moment, Tyler helps clients empower themselves to face challenges with new perspective and inner strength.

Whether clients are facing emotional challenges, seeking personal growth, or looking to develop better coping strategies, Tyler tailors his approach to meet their unique needs. His commitment to creating an environment of trust and support makes him a compassionate and capable guide on each client’s journey to well-being. Tyler has training in EFT Couples Therapy and is a Clinical Fellow at Gestalt Associates Training Institute. He holds a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from CUNY/Brooklyn College, and a B.A. Degree from Northeastern University. He is also a nationally certified American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter and offers therapy services in ASL and in English. He offers video therapy and in-person appointments in Brooklyn Heights.

Message to clients

When faced with adverse, stressful, or traumatic experiences you may have found yourself minimizing, detaching from, or hiding parts of yourself to feel safe or to survive. Sometimes that disconnections becomes habitual and these experiences leave lasting imprints in our mind and body which may manifest as anxiety, depression, OCD, and/or as addiction to substances and sex. I use a blend of psychodynamic talk therapy and somatic therapy to create a supportive space to help you recognize and process these experiences, allowing for emotional healing and greater alignment with your true self. Through body focused techniques, somatic therapy helps you reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have been shut down or numbed in response to trauma or stress. By fostering a deeper awareness of your body’s signals and understanding how the past informs the present, it becomes possible to recognize old patterns and create space for new, healthier ways of being. New connection then leads to new possibilities and relief from symptoms.
