Dr. Valerie Ward is a bilingual (English/Spanish) Psychologist in McLean, VA providing teletherapy services to clients throughout the 31 states that are a part of the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT). Clients often seek out Dr. Ward’s services to learn to develop healthier boundaries, improve communication with the people in their lives, or manage stressful life situations. She also has expertise in working with clients on topics related to anxiety, race & cultural identity concerns, and infertility-related challenges.
Dr. Ward is passionate about creating an inclusive therapeutic environment, particularly for individuals who have not sought out therapy in the past due to stigma, cultural barriers, chronic illness, physical disability, or work/life-related time constraints. She utilizes a client-centered and solution-focused approach, meaning her goal is to meet each client where they are at and help them develop strategies that lead to meaningful changes within their life. Dr. Ward also practices Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), two evidence-based therapy modalities that help clients develop skills to better manage their emotions.
Dr. Ward received her Bachelor’s Degree from James Madison University in Psychology and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology.
