Clients come to Victoria to feel heard, navigate a tough season in life, and learn practical ways to start feeling more like themselves again. Victoria works with adults experiencing life changes, relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, or struggling to cope with being "deeply feeling" (highly sensitive). As a Perinatal Mental Health Trained Provider, Victoria specializes in working with women before and during pregnancy and in the early years of motherhood. Many of her clients are seeking support for feelings of ambivalence around motherhood, postpartum depression or anxiety, "mom rage," grief and loss, work/life balance, and other daily challenges of parenthood.
Victoria uses a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approach tailored to each individual client. She incorporates cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and attachment-based tools in order to to helps clients: change unhelpful thoughts and behavior; cope with intense feelings; heal from past wounds; communicate more effectively; and focus more on the present. Victoria offers a safe space in which clients feel understood, gain new insight, and become better equipped to make the changes they desire.
Victoria has over a decade of experience working in various settings, including private practice, social services and hospitals. She has advanced training and experience in the areas of perinatal/maternal mental health, anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment, early childhood development, acute mental health crisis, and more.
Pregnancy, perinatal, postpartum mental health - Addressing issues specific to women and families during the pregnancy and postpartum period, including but not limited to: postpartum depression and anxiety; unwanted thoughts; irritability or rage; worry over baby's health, feeding issues, or childbirth; difficulty bonding with baby; loss of self; ambivalence about motherhood; grief and loss.
Transition to new parenthood - Working with parents as they adjust to role and identity changes; sleep deprivation; relationship stress; demands of work and family; and making time for their own needs.
Adjustment difficulties & disorders - Offering support around adapting to new and/or challenging life circumstances; helping clients build resilience and use practical skills to decrease stress and anxiety.
Anxiety - Providing tools to reduce excessive worry, nervousness, or stress; unwanted thoughts; intense discomfort in social settings (social anxiety); or sudden and intense feelings of panic (panic disorder).
Depression - Promoting healing of hopelessness, low motivation/energy, sadness, irritability or rage, sleep disturbance, and loss of interest and pleasure in life.
Sensitivity - Working with highly sensitive/deeply feeling/empathic individuals to develop a deeper understanding of their sensitivity; identify triggers of intense emotional reactions; distinguish their own emotions from those of others; learn when overstimulation may be presenting as anxiety, depression, or anger; set healthy boundaries; reduce unnecessary stimuli; and soothe oneself when overwhelmed.
