Professional statement

Victoria McKenna is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Virginia, who works with individuals, couples, and families. Many of her clients are struggling with their relationships either with themselves or others. Victoria is attuned to clients who are experiencing various life transitions, like a move, job loss, illness, breakup, or divorce, and symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress, loss, and grief may emerge.

Therapy sessions with Victoria integrate insight-oriented and evidence based approaches from models, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered, Experiential Therapy, and systems theory. Victoria helps her clients identify problematic patterns of behavior and thought then explores how past experiences and ways of thinking have kept these patterns in place. Through a warm and supportive relationship with Victoria, clients create change through self-acceptance then move into a space to create the changes they desire within themselves and their relationships.

Victoria’s priority with her clients is to create a safe, emotional space to be able to explore and uncover pieces of themselves in a collaborative open relationship. As an established telehealth provider, she offers remote sessions and support in between sessions to allow therapy to be an accessible part of your life.

Message to clients

My approach to therapy is for you to feel that you are sitting down for a warm, supportive, and challenging conversation with someone who you have invited into your life to explore and uncover thoughts and feelings you may have not put words to before. My hope is for our work together to be something that you look forward to and also feel your boundaries being stretched and challenged. I will be like a mirror to you on this journey and encourage you to expand your perspectives and your behaviors.

You are a courageous individual who is willing to put in the hard work and identify a different experience in life than the one you are living. I believe everything you are looking for and need is already inside of you. We can work together to find and identify the strengths and skills to create the changes in the life you want to be living.
