Professional statement

Victoria Rivera is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in New York, NY. Many of Victoria’s clients have trouble with their thoughts - whether that’s feeling overwhelmed with rumination, frustrated with unhealthy thought patterns, or feeling disconnected from their values. These feelings often show up in times of stress or anxiety, grief, or after trauma. Victoria works with each client on finding what works for them to feel more comfortable in daily life.

Victoria’s unique approach to sessions with clients draws from holistic wellness therapy. Her framework consists of discovering imbalances in the many dimensions of our lives: physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial just to name a few. By raising awareness on these parts of life, Victoria then supports her clients as they navigate through changes and towards feeling better.

Victoria earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University. She augmented her training by earning a certificate in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy from the NYU School of Psychoanalytic Education as well as a certificate from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. She brings her extensive experience with mindfulness practices and meditation into sessions to set a calm yet intentional atmosphere for clients to talk through their journey.

Message to clients

Utilizing a holistic approach in my practice, I like to think of myself more like a therapeutic guide. Life is not easy and while we all try to be intentional about the choices we make we ultimately want to feel better, have better relationships with others and most importantly improve the relationship we have with ourselves.

Since the beginning of time we have struggled toward an understanding of how the mind works and what can be done when it isn’t functioning properly. In our work together, we will gain a deeper understanding of how your mind and body works for and sometimes against you.

We live in a time where we have more information about us as humans and our environment. I work to understand you, by blending traditional psychotherapy, mindfulness, neuroscience, biology and nutrition even behavioral economics! We look at all the contributing factors that affect how you feel and to help you not only understand why you feel stressed, anxious, overwhelmed and/or depressed but we also work on implement lifestyle and behavioral changes that will help you to live a better, more purposeful life. At the end of the day that is what is important, that you feel like your life is meaningful. If this resonates with you please feel free to reach out. Take care of yourself!
