Professional statement

Victoria Sliva is a Clinical Psychologist in Westchester, New York who specializes in working with clients for issues related to mood concerns, relationships issues, eating disorders, and self-esteem and body image. She also has experience working with gender diverse and LBGTQIA folks, with adolescents, and with clients that struggle with substance use. Her practice is open to individual adults, and she also works with families and groups. Additionally, Victoria has a special interest in working with creative clients, including artists, writers, and performers and invites them to bring their work into the therapeutic space.

Victoria’s approach is down to earth and relatable, setting clients at ease so they can make genuine progress in treatment. She is skilled at incorporating Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), empowering her clients to strengthen their distress tolerance and manage their emotions.

Victoria greatly enjoys helping her clients uncover the authentic pieces of themselves, creating a space where they can honor their values and feel more comfortable in their own skin. She looks forward to working with you.

Message to clients

I believe therapy can be transformative. Not the kind of transformation where something alien is created new, but rather the kind of transformation where what is already there gets to grow, expand, and take comfortable shape.

For me, the goal of therapy is to be more authentically yourself and to feel comfortable in your own skin. It is to feel those intense emotions without Having them take control of you, and without dampening your personality or passion. It is to have deeper and more honest and satisfying relationships because you are able to know and sit with yourself.

I help clients achieve these, and their own goals by working collaboratively in a therapeutic relationship which allows the experience of being seen and listened to non-judgementally, by employing creative questions and exercises to help clients explore different facets of themselves, and by helping clients develop concrete skills to navigate emotions and relationships mindfully.

My practice is primarily working with personality disorders, addictions, eating disorders (including compulsive eating and emotional eating), self-image and body-esteem.
