Professional statement

Viola Thomas, LCSW is a certified Clinical Social Worker with 10+ years of experience working with Adults & Couples. Viola’s treatment approach incorporates trauma-informed care, schema exploration, attachment theory and mindfulness tools to help clients make sense of and learn from their lived experiences. Additionally, being of African descent, Viola can counsel clients with nuanced discussions that factor in the cultural, societal and personal influences that shape her clients’ lived experience. Viola also specializes in serving the following marginalized populations to include Women of Color, LGBTQ+, reformed offenders reintegrating to civilian life, and neurodivergent adults.

Potential clients might find themselves having trouble cultivating peace of mind, engaging in toxic patterned behaviors, unable to form or maintain healthy intimate relationships, trouble navigating racially charged environments, work/life imbalance, and experiencing burnout. Life is hard, understandably so, and here at DemystiPHI, Viola prioritizes treatment from a client-centered approach that cultivates a therapeutic space to explore and process the negative influences that hinder them from living more fulfilled lives.

Viola strives to facilitate personal growth, mental clarity and spiritual wholeness in her clients, and is a firm believer in the effectiveness of treating via a holistic approach. Firstly, clients will be guided to evaluate their patterned behaviors in the mental, physical and spiritual areas of their lives to better understand how their limiting beliefs hinder their quality of life. These patterned behaviors can lead to issues such as anxiety, depression, codependency, family of origin issues, parenting skill challenges, trauma responses, anger outbursts, executive dysfunction and intimacy concerns to name a few. Viola will create a neutral environment for self-examination where a non-judgmental exploration of one’s lived experience can occur. Then the collaborative work begins to reframe the life narrative and develop concrete solutions.

Now, let’s DemystiPHI this thing called life together!
