Wendy Naiman is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Renton, WA who works with individuals, couples, and families and specializes in anxiety disorders, depression, family conflict, relationships, and communication challenges.
Wendy primarily uses a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help her clients learn new coping strategies to manage their symptoms. She works with her clients to reshape thought patterns and behaviors by utilizing their strengths. Wendy is also a systemic therapist who looks at all of the communities that are impacting a client’s anxiety, including their support system and line of work. She helps her clients understand that while they cannot get rid of their anxiety, they can learn to live with it and use it to their advantage.
When working with couples, Wendy primarily utilizes Emotionally focused therapy, a structured, short-term treatment method that helps her clients better understand how patterns and past experiences have impacted their relationship. She also uses Gottman Couples Therapy to assist clients in understanding and changing behaviors in their relationship. This, in turn, helps couples rediscover their bond and learn how to better communicate with one another.
Wendy supports her clients as they work towards goals that will help them lead a whole and healthy life. Before starting her private practice, Wendy worked in clinics and schools for children and their families, volunteered at a crisis hotline, and provided employee-assistance program services to service members and their families.
