Professional statement

Dr. Yonina Slochowsky is a clinical psychologist based in Long Island, New York. She works with adult women, prioritizing the impact of biological and societal factors on their mental health. While Yonina loves to work with women across adulthood, she specializes in working with women experiencing infertility challenges, mental health challenges during pregnancy and postpartum, and women and mothers in the workforce.

Yonina primarily practices Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, where she works collaboratively with her clients to understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors may be impacting how they understand themselves, others, and the world around them. Yonina is trained in other therapeutic orientations and draws from them when appropriate, like Interpersonal Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Psychodynamic Therapy. Her work is also informed by current events and society at large, as we do not live in a vacuum and are constantly impacted by the world around us. Yonina uses warmth, humor, and honesty to help clients work towards their personal goals and create meaningful change in their own lives.

Yonina has worked in numerous settings, including college counseling, psychiatric hospitals, and medical facilities across New York. She has completed specialized training in working with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and perinatal loss and grief.

Yonina is currently working remotely with New York, Connecticut and Florida residents. Feel free to reach out and learn more.

Message to clients

Congratulations for taking this first step- looking for a therapist can be anxiety-provoking and difficult, and I commend you for beginning this process. Whether you have struggled with your mental health before, or a challenging life experience has thrown you for a loop, I want to navigate this experience with you. I approach my work with each client on an individualized basis and will meet you where you are and where you are ready to start. We will assess what is important to you and what you want to be different in your life, working together to make those goals a reality. I believe that while therapy is hard, vulnerable, and important work, it should also be inspiring and enjoyable. I regularly laugh and have fun with my clients, as humor, anecdotes, and stories are essential to my work. Let's go on this journey together.
