Message to clients

I believe that emotional suffering and psychological pain originate from the early childhood experiences that shape our minds. The haunted ghost from our past takes residence in our minds so that we repeat unhealthy patterns and continue suffering. How can we free ourselves from the ghost spell? By providing a holding environment and sharing my genuine curiosity and psychoanalytic understanding, I help patients sever the ties to the ghost and break the spell. Insights into their difficulties and a new experience in a therapeutic relationship lead to psychological change, greater freedom, and enriched lives.

With children, I play, co-creating a space where their minds are waiting for another mind to be heard and seen By playing out hidden fears and wishes, and learning to regulate them, children can enjoy positive emotions and develop the ability to handle challenging feelings. In unhealthy psychological development, instead of natural reparative processes arising to heal the difficulties we all face while growing, harmful psychological patterns emerge. Here, therapy halts this negative trajectory and frees children’s liveliness.

In this way, child play therapy mirrors adult talk therapy. At its core, therapy is about the authentic meeting of two minds, where unspoken ghosts are brought to light, and the spell begins to break. Then, we can have a life with greater confidence and joy.

I see a wide range of clients of varying ethnicity, race, class, and sexuality. I welcome Korean speakers and all immigrants who struggle with homesickness, social marginalization, and acculturation.
