I know it can be very difficult to come into a stranger's office and talk about the problems that you face. So much of the time, we're expected to project an image of ourselves as successful, happy, funny, smart, tough. But I would encourage you to give yourself permission to not have to face your worries alone. This is a place where you can talk openly and not feel judged. Together, we can work towards identifying and changing the things that in your life that are keeping you from feeling your best.
For men: It's no secret that traditionally, men are much less likely than women to seek mental health care. Sometimes, even the idea of asking for help can conflict with strongly ingrained social norms about needing to be tough. A the same time though, so many of the issues that men face can be quite impairing to our functioning and disruptive to the relationships with the people we love the most.

For college students: There's often still a stigma with therapy; but seeking out a therapist doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you; in fact, it's usually the healthiest person that seeks therapy! I see therapy as a way to empower ourselves through exposure to new tools and exploration into new paradigms for living authentically. Being in an academic environment as a student, you're very much in your head, and it can be helpful to have the support to feel safe, turn off your head, and trust that answers can come from other places in your body.

For clients who've been in therapy before: Many clients who see me have been in therapy before, and have seen it be helpful to a certain extent until there's an impasse. I find that often happens when the client develops the intellectual understanding of what's going on, but it's not really changing how the problem is manifesting on a daily basis, and how it's showing up in their bodies. Working with me is partly about figuring out what's going on in your mind, but it's more about sinking into your own body, being curious about what you're experiencing, and connecting what you already know with what your body is feeling.

Reaching out for therapy for the first time can be incredibly difficult. It's my philosophy that everyone can benefit from therapy at some point in their lives. My approach is to start by openly exploring factors that bring you to my office, such as thoughts, behaviors, emotions, and relational patterns towards getting to the core issues. This helps us in building a safe, caring, and non-judgmental relational foundation for creating meaningful change in a client-centered environment. I believe that fit is integral in our work together, and would like to hear about what has/hasn't worked well in past therapeutic relationships towards guiding therapy to fit your individual treatment goals.

It is important to find the therapist that feels like the right fit. We come with different personalities, ideas and tools about how to be helpful. My passion for working as a counselor is to help you live life from your solid and centered self.
As I hear your story, we identify your gifts/resources, find obstacles that keep you stuck and work together to release them. Sometimes that means being focused on your outer world and environment. Other times, it means turning inward to discover and let go whatever is keeping you blocked.
I believe life is meant to be experienced, enjoyed and have purpose. You are a unique individual and deserve an approach that is customized to fit your needs (no one-size-fits all). We are all much more than any label or diagnosis. Guiding me in my work as a counselor is a passion for helping people to find their voice, to feel more awake, alive and empowered.

My clients generally come to me seeking help with eating and body image issues, anxiety, feelings of depression, or some other life challenge. Working together, we use a combination of psychotherapeutic approaches to understand causes and contributors and plot a course of action. The process of therapy of therapy typically involves helping clients get in better touch with their feelings and values. Over the course of our work together you can expect to move from a problem solving mode to one of deepening self knowledge and expanding potential. Most clients find psychotherapy a rewarding, and often exciting journey.

Finding a connection with a therapist can be tough. We will explore your needs and what you are seeking in treatment. If we both decide that we are a good match then we will begin. Should we feel that your needs may be better addressed by another therapist or approach I will help guide you to someone that may be a better fit, at any time before, during, or after treatment.

The decision to participate in psychotherapy can bring up mixed emotions, just as with other important and impactful life decisions and events. Exciting and perhaps a bit scary at the same time. As a therapist I hope to create a safe space for you to feel comfortable discussing your thoughts and concerns. For me, it is important that we work collaboratively to help you achieve better mental health and overall well-being. I utilize an integrative approach to therapy, including person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness-based strategies. Through these techniques it is my hope that you become empowered to reach your full potential. I have worked with many clients who have shared with me the immense ways in which they suffer. I have also seen so much positive change that happens when someone has hope that things can get better for them and the confidence to take the first step on their journey. I truly feel everyone has the potential to grow and heal. I would love to help guide you during this process. I always feel a sense of gratitude and privilege in being part of someone's therapeutic journey. I look forward to hearing from you, and if it seems we might work well together I look forward to being part of your journey.

There are natural points in our life in which we become aware that in order to move towards a fulfilling life, we must challenge the way we are currently living. In making the commitment to change, we must accept that change is not easy – while also acknowledging that it is absolutely within our reach and is the only thing worth fighting for.

My career and research are focused on the body, mind, and spirit connection. My concentration is in Holistic Mental Health Counseling, and I have expertise in Ayurvedic medicine, Yogic psychology, Hakomi, and herbal medicine. I bring these fields of study together to form a thorough understanding of how to find the way back to balance.

The clients who will benefit most from my services are those ready to commit to creating the life they have always wanted and are willing to make the changes to get it. If that speaks to you, know that my position is to be your support and guide through this process. My approach is rooted in being lovingly attentive and non-judgmental.

Therapy is a mode of relational experience. Over the course of the initial sessions, I endeavor to build a trusting and open relationship with my clients so that we can address their major areas of concern in a high-functioning interaction where strengths and competencies are highlighted, resources are identified, and goals are discovered and evolve.

Note on sliding scale due to COVID-19: When I offer a sliding scale to my clients, we have a conversation through which we arrive at a reasonable fee based on their honest assessment of what is affordable to them.  We work it out together.  No one should be without access to good therapy, especially during these extremely difficult times.  That said, for those who are experiencing less financial hardship may elect to pay more, their generosity will offset the need of others and allow me to care for more individuals in greater need.  We are in this together.

I believe that all of us can help ourselves once we have the tools and resources to do so. Through practice, commitment, and support, anyone can work through life stressors and transitions. Sometimes we need extra encouragement, and sometimes we need to learn those self-help skills in order to be able to help ourselves through a tough time. I believe in your inner strength and resilience and see my role as teacher/coach and sometimes cheerleader. I aim to help you discover how you want your life to be and then to help you figure out how to get there.
