The decision to enter psychotherapy is often a deeply personal one, and even taking steps toward it can require a great deal of insight and strength. Choosing a therapist is an important part of the process, as research has consistently shown that the therapeutic relationship between patient and therapist is the most important predictor of positive outcomes.
I consider it a privilege to facilitate patients’ realization of their therapeutic goals using evidence-based treatments. In my Brookline practice, I provide my patients with a comfortable and empathic environment in which to engage in therapy. Many benefit from psychotherapy alone. When indicated, I offer integrated psychotherapy and medication treatment. Together, we determine the best treatment plan for you.

Life can be difficult—sometimes, unnecessarily hard. Everyone suffers but not everyone reaches out for help. People cope in a variety of ways to deal with what life throws at them, but sometimes these strategies are unhealthy and act as a barrier to a meaningful life. I can help you better understand yourself and develop effective ways to improve your response to unpleasant feelings and relationship patterns.

I believe that asking for help is a courageous first step that shows a willingness to embark on a journey of progress and healing. I meet people where they are at—no matter how far along they are on the healing continuum. I look forward to hearing from you so we can begin to work on your healing process together. I now offer weekend and evening sessions.

I try to be really respectful of people. It’s no small thing to come into therapy, nobody ever comes into therapy on their best day, its often their worst. I really try to keep that in mind. I really try to meet people where they’re at. I want to help people get the most out of their lives.

I hope to provide a safe space each week that allows you a break from the responsibilities and expectations of work, family, and friends to focus on yourself. In a day and age, where we are always accessible and an immediate response is generally expected from us majority of the time, the decision to actively make time to focus on your own needs deserves praise in itself. My hope is that by helping you prioritize yourself for just one hour each week, that the other 167 hours of your week will feel more useful…providing hope that tomorrow will be better than today.

Whether this is your first time seeking therapy, or you have engaged in therapy in the past, we will work together toward cultivating the self-awareness and tools you need to make lasting change. My belief is that you already have everything you need to be your best self and live a full and meaningful life. If you’re reading this, it’s likely you’ve encountered some obstacles in your path. Maybe it’s difficulty coping with a transition, or feeling unsure about 'What’s next?' Maybe you struggle with painful emotions or a depressed mood. Maybe you have suffered a loss or a trauma. Whatever brings you to therapy now, my role is to provide a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings and help you get unstuck from the patterns of thinking and behavior that are no longer serving you.
You are doing the best you can. I truly believe that. And you have likely developed ways of pushing away a difficult past or challenging emotions that are simply not working for you any longer. Not to worry, therapy is not about diving headfirst into the deep end of your pain and suffering. Rather, it’s about gently (and with loads of self compassion!) helping you learn and practice the skills you need for tolerating and being with your experience so that you can better understand it and move forward. With self awareness comes choice, and with choice the ability to learn new ways of coping with the stressors life throws your way.
We will work collaboratively on developing a plan that will help you reach your goals. We will discuss the pace, frequency of visits, and duration of treatment. I tend to be very active in session, so if you have had the experience of 50 minutes of nodding and ‘mm-hm’ you will not get that here! I will listen carefully and ask thoughtful questions to help you challenge long held thoughts and beliefs and explore different perspectives. I use humor when appropriate (yes, you can laugh in therapy!) and will offer direct feedback (with your permission of course!) I am not perfect, don’t have all the answers, and so do not expect that from you!

The decision to come to therapy is a powerful one. Much of our culture speaks to our individuality and our ability to handle things on our own. I believe we are relational beings, always living our lives within some sort of relationship.

I am believer in the idea that “The person is not the problem, the problem is the problem.”  I support individuals in facilitating conversations that help them see themselves separate from the problems and obstacles they are up against, giving space for different narratives and possibilities.  With this, I am here to listen about what got you here and support you in going where you want to go.

With the current conditions of COVID, we’ve been faced with unusual living conditions that we’re not meant to completely adapt to- less social connection, overload of screen time, and loss of large social gatherings.  And, we all are experiencing this time together. I’m passionate about being a part of conversations with individuals to help be creative and learn the resources that can help individuals connect with their inherent resilience and commitments- to step into their preferred narrative for during this time. I am in solidarity with the BLM and racial justice movements, and encourage conversations around all of the societal stressors currently occurring in society.
