As a therapist, my intent is to help you recover from whatever is standing in the way of you feeling your best. Oftentimes, this may be symptoms and feelings associated with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, work related stress, and life transitions such as adjustment to college, divorce, parenthood or preparing for retirement.

My goal is to create a safe, compassionate space where we can work together to help you heal and feel “unstuck.”

I will help you feel safe to share your pain, confront your fears and insecurities, mourn your loss, identify your unique strengths and help you learn to embrace your truth. It is most important to me that you feel heard, validated, and supported.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist. I work with adults and older teens on a range of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and stress. People who call me are often feeling overwhelmed or distressed. Many are curious about how therapy could help them. I have extensive experience with a number of different approaches to help you feel better.
I have been seeing clients for many years. I have developed expertise in treating anxiety, depression, and addressing relationship difficulties, parenting, and life stress. I draw from a variety of approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and interpersonal therapy (IPT), which focuses on relationships.
Some people are looking to learn skills and coping techniques. Some are looking to understand familiar patterns that are getting in their way. I want therapy to be helpful and targeted to your needs. I can address the here and now--what is on your plate today? What is coming up for you this week? We can focus on these issues to help you manage and feel supported. I also work with people on issues that have been present for some time. We can work to better understand these patterns so that they no longer interfere with things you want in life.
After we have an initial phone conversation, we will meet so that you can tell me about yourself. During our first meeting, I will listen closely to your story--attending to both your difficulties and your strengths and capacities. We will likely meet another time and then together, we will make a plan that best addresses your needs. It is important to me that I offer an environment that feels supportive, safe, and helpful.

Most of us inhabiting this planet go through periods in our lives where we feel overwhelmed by our circumstances, relationships, emotions, life transitions, career, etc. You are not alone and there is nothing wrong with you. This is a part of life, living, and being truly alive! When we can feel pain, we know our nerves are working...for us. And perhaps steering us in a new direction. As a trauma informed psychotherapist, I practice therapy with a mind-body/bottom-up approach, with the understanding that our body has an infinite amount of wisdom to guide us in healing our body mind and soul. When we learn how to slow down our body to access our innate wisdom, we then have an opportunity to heal the past, enjoy the present, and feel confident about the future. Integrating both art and science, I work together with my clients to reach their goals in ways that feel joyous, supportive, and comforting.
I also offer Clinical Social Work Supervision that is designed to enhance your clinical and professional skills, knowledge, and attitudes in order to achieve competency in your Social Work identity and in providing quality clinical care.

In today's stressful world it is easy to sweep your own needs under the rug. You’re encouraged to keep working and pushing, no matter the toll it takes on your mind and body. You might start to fall into unhealthy patterns, feel anxious, depressed, and unfulfilled. Over time this can lead to problems in both your professional and personal relationships. Your decision to attend therapy is an important commitment to self-care and your relationships. Therapy provides a safe place for you to hit pause, and reflect on where you have been, where you want to go, and how to get there.
My approach to therapy is based first and foremost on building a positive and collaborative relationship with you. I focus on tailoring my therapy approach to accommodate your unique challenges and strengths. We work together to help you feel seen, heard, and empowered to create for yourself the life that you deserve.

Whether this is your first time seeking therapy, or you have engaged in therapy in the past, we will work together toward cultivating the self-awareness and tools you need to make lasting change. My belief is that you already have everything you need to be your best self and live a full and meaningful life. If you’re reading this, it’s likely you’ve encountered some obstacles in your path. Maybe it’s difficulty coping with a transition, or feeling unsure about 'What’s next?' Maybe you struggle with painful emotions or a depressed mood. Maybe you have suffered a loss or a trauma. Whatever brings you to therapy now, my role is to provide a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings and help you get unstuck from the patterns of thinking and behavior that are no longer serving you.
You are doing the best you can. I truly believe that. And you have likely developed ways of pushing away a difficult past or challenging emotions that are simply not working for you any longer. Not to worry, therapy is not about diving headfirst into the deep end of your pain and suffering. Rather, it’s about gently (and with loads of self compassion!) helping you learn and practice the skills you need for tolerating and being with your experience so that you can better understand it and move forward. With self awareness comes choice, and with choice the ability to learn new ways of coping with the stressors life throws your way.
We will work collaboratively on developing a plan that will help you reach your goals. We will discuss the pace, frequency of visits, and duration of treatment. I tend to be very active in session, so if you have had the experience of 50 minutes of nodding and ‘mm-hm’ you will not get that here! I will listen carefully and ask thoughtful questions to help you challenge long held thoughts and beliefs and explore different perspectives. I use humor when appropriate (yes, you can laugh in therapy!) and will offer direct feedback (with your permission of course!) I am not perfect, don’t have all the answers, and so do not expect that from you!
