Therapists Specializing in Men'S Health in Chicago

Mental health challenges can affect anyone, regardless of gender or sex. That said, men experience higher rates of some mental health conditions and tend to be less likely to receive treatment than women. This could be because men’s mental health remains, to some extent, tied up with traditional gender expectations and roles. As a result, some men are apprehensive about speaking about their emotions, disclosing their difficulties, or seeking help. Many experience loneliness, depression, or anxiety. Seeking the opinion of a professional regarding a mental health concern is an important step towards recovery and part of an important recognization that everyone struggles at times.

Many different therapeutic modalities can be beneficial for the range of potential mental health challenges. The best-fitting therapy will depend on each individuals’ preferences, as well as the specific difficulties experienced.

Discuss the options with one of the therapists below who specializes in men’s mental health, many of whom are men themselves. Some men prefer to find a male therapist with whom they feel comfortable developing a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship. Therapists in Chicago have been vetted by the Zencare team for clinically rigorous, quality care. Hello and thank you for considering me as your mental health provider. I believe in meeting clients where they are in terms of readiness for treatment and hope to work towards meaningful change together. I own and manage a solo practice and keep a controlled caseload that allows me to offer more specialized attention and focused treatment for each client. I offer some flexibility when it comes to session frequency and weekly sessions may be what you are looking for but there also times when you may need to meet more than once week, bi-monthly, or less regular maintained sessions.

Emotional distress can manifest in a number of ways which may include panic attacks, irritability, sadness, impulsivity, excessive worry, grief, nightmares, feeling generally overwhelmed, difficulty coping, among many other variations. Trauma may also surface in ways that be can be difficult to understand at first. I believe that a strong therapeutic alliance is essential to exploring, processing, and developing additional coping strategies. Treatment can take on a variety of shapes and forms and I look forward to understanding your emotional experience.

I am an LGBTQ ally and provide treatment in a safe space.

If you have any questions or would like to set up an initial appointment then please contact me via email or phone.

It has been in my heart to be a therapist ever since I was young. I truly find purpose in helping others and improving your quality of life. This is why I added to my practice with Yoga. I want to ensure that I have the tools to help you reach your goals.

If you are open and willing, you can make a change. The biggest reason I see people not moving forward with change is that facing trauma is extremely uncomfortable, and who can blame them. With me, I use Cognitive Processing Therapy. This means we don't go into detail about your trauma unless you want to. Our main goal is to figure out what is keeping you stuck, and help you get unstuck.

I think working as a team is the most important thing. I am not going to make you do anything you don't want to do. I may make suggestions you disagree with, and that's okay. This is your treatment and my goal is to give you the tools and challenge you to reach your goals. We are looking for small changes, as most change does not happen overnight. I have confidence that you can make that change.

As we go through life we often find ourselves wondering what we can do to better in our relationships with our significant others, family members, and others in our lives. It seems as if we have tried everything, but nothing seems to work, at least not long term. As a therapist, I believe in compassion, therapeutic alliance, and a non-judgmental environment to be with you every step of the way as you reach your goals. I am a Licensed Psychotherapist that has emphasized trauma, complex trauma, sexual dysfunction, relationship issues, grief, infidelity, anxiety, eating disorders, and mood disorders.

Good therapy works. However, there are often barriers between you and "good therapy." It's hard to find a therapist that is a fitting match, hard to look at your life with honesty, and hard to work on becoming a better person. I understand that this process of finding a therapist is oftentimes daunting, frustrating, and difficult. Whether we end up working together or not, I want to use this message to encourage you to take a deep breath, relax your shoulders, and keep at it. It typically works best for clients to schedule consultations with a couple different therapists, and try to get a sense for which pairing feels like a good fit. Trust your gut - you'll know it when you find it. All the while, I hope you remember one thing that I find to be abundantly clear: good therapy works!
