Therapists Specializing in Men'S Health in Seattle

Mental health challenges can affect anyone, regardless of gender or sex. That said, men experience higher rates of some mental health conditions and tend to be less likely to receive treatment than women. This could be because men’s mental health remains, to some extent, tied up with traditional gender expectations and roles. As a result, some men are apprehensive about speaking about their emotions, disclosing their difficulties, or seeking help. Many experience loneliness, depression, or anxiety. Seeking the opinion of a professional regarding a mental health concern is an important step towards recovery and part of an important recognization that everyone struggles at times.

Many different therapeutic modalities can be beneficial for the range of potential mental health challenges. The best-fitting therapy will depend on each individuals’ preferences, as well as the specific difficulties experienced.

Discuss the options with one of the therapists below who specializes in men’s mental health, many of whom are men themselves. Some men prefer to find a male therapist with whom they feel comfortable developing a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship. Therapists in Seattle have been vetted by the Zencare team for clinically rigorous, quality care. Each of us bears a unique stamp of existence, one that makes us stand out against the backdrop of the turning world. Along with this unique stamp of existence, comes a unique form of suffering. Suffering, pain, wounds, grief, loss — all-natural and inevitable aspects of life. Rare is it, that we are given the opportunity to express and sublimate these wounds and losses in a healthy and positive way. Nor is it commonplace for us to find a nurturing and safe environment in which we can find validation, exploration, and affirmation.

As a visually impaired individual, living with progressive blindness—I understand on a deeply human level, just how difficult it can be to move through and forward, in the face of heavy loss and suffering. I also understand, just how important it is to feel accepted, to be able to explore both the dark and the light of the human experience, and the cruciality of affirmation.

We cannot shed our traumas, in the same way that we cannot shed who we truly are. I believe in moving through loss and moving forward with trauma. Trauma does not mean the end of our lives, or the end of you. Trauma can be the chrysalis for growth, change, and reaching a higher potential, never seen. Suffering never ceases to be, it merely ceases to be suffering.

And while we often feel alone in dealing with these struggles — you don't have to go it alone. I invite you to reach out to me, as there is always hope.

I believe that in therapy, we use the relationship between client and therapist to address the challenges you bring to our sessions. This involves telling your story and relating it back to the context of the therapeutic relationship. It is within these relational patterns that develop in the counseling relationship that allow you to gain a better awareness of yourself and greater insight into the nature of your challenges. Together, we process those challenges in session, through story and relationship, to provide you with the tools to prosper outside of session.

Due to the current global pandemic, my practice is completely telehealth, over video chat. I currently do not bill insurance, but can provide support around out-of-network reimbursement. It is one way I can assure the highest degree of privacy, flexibility and control of mental health records. My current rate is $150.00 for a 50 minute individual session. I am currently offering sliding scale, for active students, with limited availability.

Feel free to email or call me with any questions!

All you need to bring to therapy is an open mind and a willingness to explore. I am a very interactive therapist; I give a lot of feedback and guidance. In my work with individuals, I help people see how they developed the coping skills and defense mechanisms they did, and how to begin recognizing them in a less judgmental way. I also teach couples new communication skills: how to rebuild trust and safety after a breach, how to mirror one another, ways to validate and empathize. We work on breaking bad patterns and create healthier ones using positivity and appreciations.

It's so rewarding to help children, couples and families heal old and current wounds, and to see my clients use therapy as a way to soar to new emotional freedoms. Please don't be in pain anymore: contact me so we can set goals together, develop healthier ways of coping, and watch you blossom

It can be very hard to live with emotional pain and suffering. It is often though ways of coping with emotional pain on our own that we can develop patterns of being stuck.

It is through the vulnerability, and it is so vulnerable, of being with someone who is listening and opening with curiosity, insight, and care that we can begin to find a way through suffering.
