Most people that I work with struggle with everyday sources of stress including but not limited to work life, romantic relationships, family conflict or health issues. People need a safe and contained space to work on real life issues as they present themselves. I work to ensure a comfortable environment and I rely heavily on a practical solution-focused approach to therapy. It is my experience that I am a good fit for someone looking for a therapeutic partnership in a positive, goal-oriented environment to work on coping skills and self-improvement.

I believe that therapy should create a safe and conducive environment for exploration and change, be affirming and empathic, facilitate learning and self-discovery, and provide feedback about unhealthy life patterns. My areas of expertise include: sports/athletic performance anxiety, recovery from athletic injury, general stress and anxiety management, life transitions, health and wellness. In addition to my clinical practice, I teach and perform research on stress, anxiety and health. I have published over 30 articles in the areas of high blood pressure, stress and women's health, and have given over 50 presentations about my research.
I am a triathlete and black belt in Tae Kwon Do, with an interest in Zen philosophy. Thus, balance, mindfulness, and focus are important aspects of how I view mental health.
My background gives me a unique perspective of the mind-body connection. I can help you learn ways to: improve athletic performance, lower your stress levels, feel less overwhelmed, make it through a difficult life transition, be healthy, and attain balance in your life.

Seeking treatment and finding the right provider for you can be a difficult process. My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for healing and recovery to take place in. I maintain a compassionate and validating environment in order to develop a shared understanding of what brings my clients into therapy and ways in which we can work together to improve their lives. Building trust is an important part of therapy and I want every individual I see to feel heard and come away from each session with better understanding of themselves and their experiences. I appreciate how challenging the process of change can be and look forward to beginning this process together.

For college students: There's often still a stigma with therapy; but seeking out a therapist doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you; in fact, it's usually the healthiest person that seeks therapy! I see therapy as a way to empower ourselves through exposure to new tools and exploration into new paradigms for living authentically. Being in an academic environment as a student, you're very much in your head, and it can be helpful to have the support to feel safe, turn off your head, and trust that answers can come from other places in your body.

For clients who've been in therapy before: Many clients who see me have been in therapy before, and have seen it be helpful to a certain extent until there's an impasse. I find that often happens when the client develops the intellectual understanding of what's going on, but it's not really changing how the problem is manifesting on a daily basis, and how it's showing up in their bodies. Working with me is partly about figuring out what's going on in your mind, but it's more about sinking into your own body, being curious about what you're experiencing, and connecting what you already know with what your body is feeling.

I provide a safe and comfortable setting in which you can work to determine and accomplish your goals, minimize stress, and learn to identify triggers so that you can regain control of your emotions and reach a level balance in your life. We are partners in this process and will work together to create a road map that is appropriate for your needs using tools such as education, support, and direction.
My approach is holistic and client centered. I believe in recognizing one's natural skills while creating strategies to reduce discomfort. I specialize in adjustment issues, depression, and anxiety. I am also trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) which provides fast relief to many symptoms including those related to anxiety, trauma, PTSD, and depression.
We will look at your mind/body connection because having a better understanding of this will lead to a reduction of physical/emotional pain. It is my hope that my clients live the life they have always wanted to.

Welcome! Thanks so much for visiting my page.
I am interested in connecting with you and working at creating an environment that feels as safe as possible for you to share. I'd like to help you identify what is creating or contributing to your struggles, as well as to help you to locate what is in your control to change.
We often get stuck in this life in patterns of thought or behaviors we wish we could shift. My approach aims to understand how and why those patterns developed, and to encourage you to have compassion for why your thoughts and behaviors have been what they are.
