The teen years can be tumultuous for adolescents and their families, especially for teens who experience their emotions in extremes: fast and intense highs, lows that are hard to predict, and sometimes even feeling “numbed out” or distanced from emotion completely. In this group, teens and their caregiver(s) will learn skills to help address a number of different issues associated with tumultuous emotions.
This group is designed for adolescents to attend with 1-2 caregivers and is organized into two parts, each covering different dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) topics and skills. In the fall, we will cover the Distress Tolerance and Emotion Regulation modules of DBT. In the spring ,we will cover the Interpersonal Effectiveness and Middle Path curriculum. Mindfulness skills are taught at the start of both fall and spring groups.
Please note that this is a completely virtual group.
