DBT Skills Group

Description

This is an adult DBT skills group, in which participants ages 18 and up are taught Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance and Interpersonal Effectiveness skills. Participants do not need to see an individual therapist within our practice, but do need to have a behaviorally-oriented individual therapist who is willing to assist with skills generalization and reinforcement.

Group Therapist

Colleen Lang is a Clinical Psychologist in the Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan and the Carroll Gardens neighborhood in Brooklyn. The majority of her clients have depression, anxiety, OCD, panic, or have been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and/or have a history of self-destructive and impulsive behaviors. She also specializes in working with individuals who have a history of trauma. She also works with clients who are navigating anger issues, life transitions and/or relationship challenges. She offers both individual and couples therapy and is trained to work with teenagers and adults.

Dr. Lang’s therapy style is compassionate, thoughtful, and change-oriented, with a focus on reframing thought patterns and managing emotions. She utilizes both Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and has advanced training in trauma-focused modalities. Dr. Lang typically sees clients once a week and, over time, reduces session frequency as client needs change.

Dr. Lang deeply cares about each and every one of her clients and wants to help them succeed and achieve their goals. She looks forward to meeting you at either her Chelsea or Brooklyn office.
