Eating Disorder Recovery Group

Description

We will focus on a different topic each week and discuss: diagnosis and you; core values; triggers and responses; social media; mindfulness; and interpersonal connection. During our final meeting, every member will be asked to bring a meal that represents a "comfort food" and have dinner together virtually while reflecting on the skills and self-awareness we've gathered over the course of eight weeks.

Group Therapist

Katherine Kluefer is a career-changer who retrained in Mental Health after several decades in the commercial sector in the US and France. Having seen the impact that a gifted therapist can have in the life of someone who is suffering, she focused her studies in areas where an increasing number of people are struggling, working with Borderline Personality Disorder patients, people facing major life transitions, and those with Eating Disorders. During a year-long internship at the The Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders, Katherine ran Psycho Education groups, topical groups, and worked one-on-one with patients from 20 to 56 years of age. Her research and volunteer work has brought her-face-to-face with the struggles of first-generation college students in the US; Katherine has also trained in the use of psychological testing to unearth a patient's deeply buried conflict.

Currently, Katherine's sessions are conducted via telehealth, but she will begin offering live sessions in Spring 2022 from Manhattan-based offices. At each meeting, she asks the patient to arrive with a short list of topics to ensure that the most pressing issues are covered within the time together.
