Description
This ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) therapy group is specifically designed for moms diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). It's open to moms of children of all ages, from newborns to adult children. The group meets every other week for 60-minute sessions. To join, participants must have a formal OCD diagnosis and be currently under the care of a mental health professional. A brief intake interview is required to ensure the group is a good fit for each potential member. If you don't have an OCD diagnosis and are looking for an assessment, I would be more than happy to schedule an intake.
During each session, we focus on education about OCD and ERP techniques, guided exposure exercises, and group discussions. Members learn to identify their triggers, create exposure hierarchies, and practice resisting compulsions in a supportive environment. We also address unique challenges that arise in parenting with OCD. Between sessions, participants complete homework assignments to reinforce their learning and progress.
As the group leader, I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 3 years of experience specializing in OCD treatment. I have completed advanced training in ERP therapy and have led numerous OCD support groups. My approach combines evidence-based techniques with compassion and understanding of the specific struggles faced by mothers with OCD. I create a safe, non-judgmental space where group members can work towards recovery while supporting one another.
