Description
This Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy group is designed for adults diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). It's open to individuals aged 18 and above, regardless of their OCD subtype or severity. The group meets every other week for one hour. To join, participants must have a formal OCD diagnosis and be currently under the care of a mental health professional. A brief screening interview is conducted to ensure the group is appropriate for each potential member and to assess their readiness for ERP work. If you do not have an OCD diagnosis and would like an assessment, I'd be more than happy to schedule an intake assessment.
During each session, we focus on psycho-education about OCD and ERP principles, guided exposure exercises, and group discussions. Members learn to identify their triggers, create personalized exposure hierarchies, and practice resisting compulsions in a supportive setting. We also address common challenges in implementing ERP techniques in daily life. Between sessions, participants complete homework assignments to reinforce their learning and progress. The group format allows members to benefit from shared experiences, mutual support, and the opportunity to practice exposures in a social context.
As the group facilitator, I am a licensed clinical social worker with specialized training in OCD treatment and extensive experience in conducting ERP therapy. I have completed advanced workshops in ERP techniques and have been leading OCD support and therapy groups for over 3 years. My approach combines evidence-based practices with empathy and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with OCD. I create a safe, non-judgmental space where group members can work towards recovery while supporting and learning from one another. My expertise allows me to tailor the group experience to meet the diverse needs of participants while maintaining a focus on effective ERP strategies.
