Description
It is very common to have mixed feelings and ambivalence about making any type of behavior change. Many people especially struggle with making changes to their alcohol and/or substance use. Trouble managing stressors in our daily lives can make it difficult to start or maintain changes to substance use. There are also many myths about how to treat substance use problems that can interfere with progress.
This group aims to meet members wherever they are in their journey and to discuss their alcohol or drug use in a non-judgmental way. We will explore ways to increase motivation, problem-solve barriers to change, and develop skills (such as coping with urges to use) to help group members increase their likelihood of maintaining changes to their substance use.
Members who have any openness to making changes are welcome—whether they have the goal of reducing use and related problems or have the long-term goal of cutting use out entirely. Enrollment in the group will be on a rolling basis, and members are welcome to join on a month-to-month basis as long as it feels helpful.
