Find the Forest, Find Yourself

Description

Your soul just seems to have a spot you keep trying to fill but have no idea how to get to it. So you try to spend some time outside and hit the trails, but it just seems like an empty promise of a beautiful walk rather than the transformational place you hope it to be. No one actually taught you how to spend time outside in meaningful ways. That's why you need to join this group: it's an introvert's dream unlike other groups getting you outside to build a relationship with nature.

Group Therapist

Timothy Kelly (who goes by Tim) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Aurora, CO. Tim is passionate about helping the people who feel stuck in the ennui of daily living, which rears its head in their professional lives, personal lives, and their relationship with themselves. Tim’s clients arrive at therapy wanting to make major changes to their routines, however aren’t sure what to do or where to start. They often find themselves with anxiety, depression, overwhelming stress, or burnout. Some of them feel like they’re imposters, with low self-worth that leaves them unable to accept that good things can happen to them. Other clients replay painful memories over and over in their heads, which leaves them emotionally exhausted.

Tim’s approach to therapy begins with his approachable, down-to-earth style. Tim often uses humor in his sessions to build strong therapeutic relationships with his clients – he may even reference a TikTok or meme during his sessions. From this rapport, Tim then helps his clients learn more about their emotional states, feelings, thoughts, and goals. He incorporates the outside world into therapy through nature therapy, including forest therapy. He teaches clients how to do away with harmful cognitive distortions and replace those thought patterns with healthier, more compassionate ones. He does so in a trauma-informed way so that all clients feel safe during their sessions.

Tim earned his Master’s degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. He continues to expand his skill set through additional training, certifications, and informal learning. He is an avid writer and enjoys bringing writing and poetry into his work with clients to help them express what’s difficult to talk about directly. Tim’s goal is to help clients make effective changes that leave them feeling engaged, energized, and content with their lives.
