This is a weekly support group for those who are looking to share and manage their bereavement and grief process. The loss of a loved one can feel deeply emotionally overwhelming and to find a dedicated grieving space is often close to impossible as the world keeps moving at such a high speed all around us.
Dr. Annkatrine Gates is a Clinical Psychologist who welcomes individuals, couples, and (step)families to her practice in Cambridge, MA. Most clients come in seeking longterm work, to deepen their self-understanding and make sense of their life narrative. Old insecurities often arise around moments of stress, such as a shifting relationship dynamic or major life transition. Through a safe and secure therapeutic relationship, Dr. Gates patiently guides clients to pave a path towards a life of joy and meaning.
Alongside her general psychotherapy practice, Dr. Gates is a trauma specialist. She works at each client's pace, building trust over time, and slowly untangling new truths about themselves and regaining control over their lives.
Dr. Gates has a special interest in supporting students, including undergraduate, graduate, and international students attending local universities. She helps clients to thrive in a competitive academic setting, live independently, and adapt to a new environment. Along the way, Dr. Gates supports clients in grappling with the bigger questions, such as who they are and how to live a meaningful life.
Uniquely, Dr. Gates is also especially sensitive to the challenges of stepfamilies. She values helping each individual find their voice within a complex family system while also offering concrete strategies for stepfamilies to function better, leading to a more peaceful home.
Insightful, compassionate and actively engaged, Dr. Gates welcomes new clients to her office, which is easily accessible from the Red Line at Alewife.
