Next group starts on 9/8/24: This is a therapeutic process group for men struggling with compulsive sexual behavior. Each session includes topic discussion, peer feedback, and psychoeducation. Topics include the cycle of addiction, early childhood history of abuse/neglect, the dangers of pornography, self-care, shame and guilt reduction, relapse prevention, 12-step recovery, codependency, family of origin, forgiveness, and much more. It’s proven that healing amongst peers promotes long term sobriety. Intake session required prior to joining.
Group Therapist
DJ Burr is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. His expertise lies in supporting individuals who struggle with sexual behaviors that are harmful to their wellbeing, which includes sex addiction, codependency in relationships, fear of intimacy, and more. He also helps clients who have other types of addictions, particularly those whose trauma experiences from the past negatively impact their mental health in the present.
DJ’s approach to therapy stems from curiosity. He encourages clients to become curious about their minds, prompting them to learn more about the ways that they think, act, and feel. He practices Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, a therapy modality that focuses on overcoming difficult emotional reactions and the feeling of being stuck in those reactions. His style is collaborative and compassionate. Clients benefit from working with DJ, as they learn how to find fulfillment and authentic connection with others.
DJ also enjoys facilitating men’s groups, including men’s groups for sexual addiction recovery. He is passionate about advocating for mental health, and understands how impactful going through therapy can be, especially when clients begin to recognize their own worth and abilities, breaking harmful habits and creating healthy ones.
