This 30-minute support group is for parents seeking a community during these challenging times and offers a safe space to share challenges, find encouragement, share resources, and develop mindful parenting techniques.
The group is open to both moms and dads, and parents in the group typically have children who range in age from birth to elementary-school.
Please note that this is a completely online group run via Zoom.
Group Therapist
Dr. Sharon Tan is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with offices in Pasadena and Brea, CA. She also welcomes clients for remote video sessions. Clients often see Dr. Tan for a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, grief and loss, chronic health concerns, and trauma. Dr. Tan is also passionate about providing compassionate, empowering care to women who are expecting or first-time parents.
Dr. Tan strives to cultivate a safe place where clients are able to explore the issues that brought them in, as well as how prior experiences may be shaping their perspective as they enter new life stages. She integrates various modalities, including the skills-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as arts and expressive therapies.
In her work with perinatal clients, Dr. Tan understands the importance of having a secure place where women are able to explore the multifaceted emotions of motherhood. She also oversees support groups for new or pregnant mothers, including a group hosted through Zoom to continue providing connection throughout Coronavirus.
In addition to her private practice, Dr Tan also works in a hospital setting at Miller Children's and Women's Hospital in the Pediatric Palliative Care team. She is also part of a multidisciplinary team on a program supporting women with high risk pregnancies.
