This group is designed for adults who struggle with emotional over-control, a pattern often linked to social isolation, difficulty connecting with others, and conditions like chronic depression, anxiety, eating disorders, vulnerable narcissism, and obsessive-compulsive personality disorder. RO DBT helps you learn to be more open, flexible, and socially connected to improve your relationships and emotional well-being.
You’ll gain skills to address:
• Difficulty expressing emotions authentically
• Struggles with receiving feedback or handling criticism
• Rigid thinking and avoidance of risk or novelty
• Emotional isolation and difficulty connecting with others
• Challenges with flexibility and adapting to change
• Difficulty relaxing and being playful
Through RO DBT, you’ll learn strategies to be more receptive, open to feedback, and flexible in your responses to life’s challenges. This group will support you in building stronger, more authentic connections and improving your emotional resilience.
Group Therapist
Jodie is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Massachusetts, with a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Boston College. She has been with McLean Hospital since 2003 and maintains a private practice in Belmont, MA, offering both in-person and telehealth services. Plus, as a Certified Coach, Jodie helps clients focus on their strengths to create positive change and personal growth.
Jodie takes a compassionate, evidence-based approach to therapy, helping individuals work through life’s challenges while nurturing emotional well-being. She uses treatment approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients break free from unhelpful thought patterns, manage emotions, and build stronger relationships. Whether addressing anxiety, depression, personality disorders, or life transitions, Jodie tailors her approach to empower clients to live in alignment with their values and create meaningful change.
In addition to therapy services, Jodie offers coaching to help clients clarify their goals and create a roadmap for their future. Her coaching approach begins with the discovery phase, helping clients reflect on what excites and motivates them. In the design phase, Jodie works with clients to break down their goals into actionable steps, fostering a mindset of empowerment. The dream phase supports clients in envisioning their ideal future, while the destiny phase focuses on actionable steps to bring those dreams to life. This process is designed to build confidence, accountability, and long-lasting transformation.
Finally, Jodie's work with couples and families is to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen emotional connections. She helps clients navigate challenges such as parenting and life transitions. Whether it's managing divorce, co-parenting, or deepening emotional bonds, Jodie works collaboratively with couples and families to ensure they can move forward with understanding, respect, and a shared vision for the future.
