Mary Tate is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based out of Chelsea in New York City. At her practice, Tate Psychotherapy, she works with all age groups, ranging from children, to adolescents, to adults, as well as the family as a whole.
Mary work’s with families and children around various challenges and transitions, including helping families who are going through divorce,meeting with children who are learning about a new medical diagnosis or have a sudden behavior or emotional change; Many of the adults she works with are going through life transitions, have low self-esteem, and are experiencing overwhelming feelings of stress and anxiety.
New Yorkers are used to keeping up with a certain pace, never slowing down. They carry around their bags filled with the many things we need for their daily lives, but never stop to think about what else they are carrying around. Many people are carrying anxiety, grief, and stress. They may be dealing with sadness over a recent break up, fear over a doctor’s appointment, or feeling overwhelmed about their job. It can be easy to put these things in bags aside, but they are always there, at home, only to return to it after the day is over.
Mary is there to help unpack some of the hard stuff that others don't see. Her goal for you is to see your strength, discovering your inner ability to tackle these issues, even when it seems like it you can’t.
With her specialized training in trauma work, children's behavioral and emotional issues, and therapy for those with chronic health conditions, Mary uses a variety of techniques and modalities.
