Group Therapist

Julie Preston Schilling is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Arvada, CO. Julie’s aim is to somatically support women to live a life that is present, engaging, and fulfilling. Many of Julie’s clients feel stressed out to the point of emotional collapse, which can leave them feeling drained, unworthy of love or connection, and disappointed. This stress can be the result of life transitions, a mental health condition like anxiety, or the aftereffect of experiencing a traumatic event. This stress can show up in a decreased mood, anxiety and reactivity.

Julie uses somatic, mindfulness-based and holistic approaches to helping her clients. Clients learn how to assess and reflect on their emotional, cognitive, behavioral and physical states. This awareness helps them stay in their bodies, and in the present, rather than stressing about situations in the past or coming up in the future. Julie also encourages clients to revisit their attachment history, including how they were raised by their caregivers. Using this knowledge, Julie collaborates with her clients to make solution-focused and somatically aware plans for healthy change that can lead to greater connection with others, and inner peace.

Julie earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Denver, and is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). She enjoys seeing clients prioritizing their mental health and reaping the benefits that come from learning about their nervous systems conditioned responses and how to release trapped survival energy, resulting in more lightness and freedom.
